17 year old student, Dana Sayadi, a pupil at Colne Community College has been crowned Clacton Carnival Queen for 2008.
Eleyse Barnes, age 14 and a pupil at Colbayns County High School and Charis Curtis, who is also 14 and a pupil at Bishops Park College were chosen as her Princesses.
The Selection and Crowning took place at a Disco organised by the Clacton Carnival Association at Kingscliff Hotel, Holland on Sea on Friday 18th April.
It was a closely fought contest with 6 entrants for Carnival Queen and 17 for Princess. The Judges were Sara Rundle from Coast FM; Gabrielle Will of Angel Hair Salon; Trevor Grimsey, Vice President of the Lions Club of Clacton on Sea and Lee Pugh, Entertainments Manager for Tendring District Council.
The Court’s first outing representing Clacton will be to Braintree Carnival on Saturday 7th June. They will also be attending many other carnivals in the area before they lead their very own Carnival Procession in Clacton on Saturday 9th August.
