Clacton Carnival Week 2017
12th – 20th August
Clacton’s
fun-packed Carnival Week will soon be here and once again we are asking for
your help in publicising this for us. This
week
of events will entertain local residents and holidaymakers while raising
much needed funds for many local charities.
This year we are back again at Alton Park Junior School for 3 of our outdoor
events. The Donkey Derby and
the Carnival Fete and Live Music Event are being held at Alton Park Junior
School in Leas Road as well as a Car Boot Sale at the same venue on the
first Sunday.
Carnival
Week starts with the Carnival Procession on Saturday 12th August and the
theme is ‘STORY TIME’. The main
beneficiary is the Hospital Hopper Minibus which is a vital link for those
people who find it difficult to get to Hospital appointments using public
transport. This is a very
worthy cause which has a direct impact on many local people’s lives and we
are sure it will be well supported by the public. We also aim to give
donations to many other organisations who help us run Carnival Week.
I hope that you will be as generous in publicising all our events as you
have been in the past years. If you need any further information, please
ring me on Clacton (01255) 426262.

PROCESSION
Start
West Road Car Park to Victoria Road
The
Carnival Procession has a start time of 6pm and follows the usual route
straight along the seafront from West Road Car Park to Victoria Road.
The usual
excitement, noise and spectacle of a Carnival Procession will include
Marching Bands, majorettes, local and national floats, and many visiting
Carnival Queens from other towns with the whole Procession being led by
our very own Carnival Queen and her Princesses.
The Theme for the Procession is ‘STORY
TIME’ which should encourage plenty of spectacular and colourful
floats.
The main beneficiary is the Hospital
Hopper Minibus which needs funds to continue to provide vital transport
for local people who find it difficult to access public transport for
out-patient appointments at local Hospitals.
This is a very worthy cause which has a direct impact on many
local peoples’ lives and we are sure it will be well supported by the
public.
