Clacton Carnival Association

What do we do?

Every year the Carnival Association runs a number of events with two aims:

‘To provide entertainment for residents and holiday-makers, whilst raising much needed funds for local charities and organisations’.

Typically, each year there will be:

Spring        Selection and Crowning of the Carnival Queen and

Princesses for the year, Poster Competition for local youngsters to enter and Quiz Night.

Summer     A week of Carnival events in August, including the Carnival

Procession, Sunday Show, Donkey Derby, Sandcastle Competition, Beer Dig, Egg Throwing Competition, Fete and Fireworks Display, Children’s Fancy Dress Competition and Quiz Night.

Autumn      Presentation Evening of donations to local good causes

from monies raised during Carnival Week and an Annual General Meeting.

How do we achieve this?

We have a Committee whose members all take a share in planning and carrying out the various events.  Every month, usually on the first Tuesday of the month, we meet to discuss progress on organising the events and to plan for the future.

Committee Members can get involved in the planning and running of events as well as more practical aspects, such as making and mending sideshows.

We always welcome people to help during Carnival Week: you do not have to be a Committee Member to do this!
