POSTER COMPETITION WINNERS 2009
With a record 835 posters to judge, this year’s four judges really had their work cut out. John Chaston, who also generously sponsored the competition, Anne Maxwell, Glynn Bentley and Mark Darnell were the judges.
Six schools and ten youth groups –Rainbows, Brownies and Guides - took part.
This year, the theme of Carnival is ‘Cartoons’, and our entrants really used their imaginations, not only drawing their favourite cartoon characters, but also in some cases inventing their own!
Prizes and certificates were presented to the winners by the Carnival Queen and one of her Princesses at a Presentation Evening held in St James Church Hall, Clacton, on Wednesday 17th June, and the winning posters will be on display at Clacton Library until mid-July. A further 43 merit certificates were also awarded.
Many thanks once again to all those who have helped to make this year’s Poster Competition such a success, including Clacton Library for acting as a collection and display point for posters, our sponsor and judges for taking on such a challenging task, and last but not least the hard-working and enthusiastic schools and other youth organisations taking part.
