Welcome
to our new Carnival Queen and Princesses
17 year old Chyanne Hooks has been crowned Clacton Carnival Queen for 2014.
Chyanne is a 6th form
student at the Tendring Technology College studying for her ‘A’ levels to go on
to University to study Theatre Management. 14 year old Teegan Deeks and 12 year
old Mia Headford, both pupils at the Clacton Coastal Academy were chosen as her
Princesses.
The Selection and Crowning took place at a Disco at The Tavern, Holland on Sea
on Friday 28th March. It was a closely fought contest with 4 entries for Queen
and 10 for Princess with the Judges having a very difficult task as the standard
was so high. The Judges were: Sally
Dewing, 1987 St.Osyth Carnival Queen also GCS Alarms; Lorraine Ingold from Dream
Promotions; Peter Edwards from the Fund Raising Committee for the Clacton
Lifeboat and Paul Dewing from GCS Alarms. The
girls were each given a Voucher by Gary McNamara of ‘Hair 4 U’ and their prize
money, sponsored by GCS Alarms, will be presented to them later in the year.
Chyane, Teegan and Mia will be seen representing Clacton at various other
Carnivals in the area throughout the summer. The highlight for them will be
leading the Clacton Carnival Procession on Saturday 9th August, when the theme
will be ‘FAIRY TALES’. This will be at the beginning of a very busy Carnival
Week to raise funds for many local charities.
