Welcome to
Clacton’s New Carnival Court
3 years after she was a Clacton Carnival Princess, 16 year old Kerry-alice
Hartnett has been crowned Clacton Carnival Queen for 2015. Kerry-alice is
currently taking GCSE’s and will be going on to College in September to study
for her ‘A’ levels. 11 year old Emmi-Lou Hanney, a pupil at Holland Park School,
and Georgia Powell also aged 11, a pupil at the White Hall Academy, were chosen
as her Princesses.
The Selection and Crowning took place at a Disco at The Tavern, Holland on Sea
on Friday 27th March. The Judges
were: Bonnie Hill MBE, Deputy Lieutenant of Essex; Leanda Shelton, Dance
Teacher; Peter Perry, District Commissioner and Cllr Mark Pratt. The girls’
prize money, sponsored by GCS Alarms, will be presented to them later in the
year.
Kerrry-alice, Emmi-Lou and Georgia will be seen representing Clacton at a number
of Carnivals in the area throughout the summer. The highlight for them will be
leading the Clacton Carnival Procession on Saturday 8th August, when the theme
will be ‘Heroes and Villains’. This will be the start of a very busy Carnival
Week to raise funds for many local charities.
