Clacton Carnival Week Saved

Clacton Carnival is moving to a new venue this year for 3 of its major outdoor events being held in Carnival Week (8th – 14th August).  We have had an anxious few months as our normal site at Gainsford Avenue, which has been our home for 36 years, is now earmarked for major redevelopment soon.

After a lot of negotiation over the last few months on various sites we have been fortunate to find a suitable venue at the Coast Campus in Jaywick Lane, previously known as Bishops Park College, thanks to Pinnacle Facilities Hire.

This means that the Family Fun Day, the infamous Donkey Derby and the mammoth fete and fireworks display will all be held at this exciting new venue.

Chairman Paul Townend is relieved and said “The future of the traditional Carnival Week has been secured – we were in jeopardy of losing 3 major events which would have been a huge loss of our fund raising opportunities and traditional seaside entertainment.”

All the other Carnival events including the Procession will take place as usual in the various venues around Clacton and more details will be announced soon or keep looking at the Carnival website.

We look forward to the support of local people and holidaymakers to make Carnival 2015 a huge success with our move to a new venue.
